Scott Stephens is an American television producer. He is a executive producer of ''True Detective'' and served as supervising producer on the western drama ''Deadwood'' for which he was nominated for an Emmy Award. == Career ==
Stephens began his television career as producer of the HBO comedy, ''The Mind of the Married Man''. Stephens then joined David Milch as supervising producer on the ''Deadwood'' remaining throughout its run. ''Deadwood'' garnered multiple Emmy nominations and wins, a Peabody award, Golden Globe recognition, numerous guild awards, and American Film Institute's Best Television Program for each of its three seasons. Following Deadwood’s success, Scott continued with Milch on the surf-noir drama, ''John From Cincinnati'' as co-executive producer. In 2005, Scott produced the pilot episode for the series ''Big Love''. Scott returned to comedy to work with director Alexander Payne on the pilot episode of ''Hung'', which was shot entirely in and around Detroit, Michigan. Scott stayed on as an executive producer for the series’ three-season run. In 2010, Scott joined Mike White to executive-produce the comedy-drama ''Enlightened'' starring Laura Dern. In 2012, Stephens began working on ''True Detective'' with writer/creator Nic Pizzolatto. The first season explores the psychological and philosophical underpinnings of a relationship between two Louisiana homicide detectives, Martin Hart and Rustin Cohle, as they hunt for a serial killer in coastal Louisiana.
